Adoptions: right of the adoptee to know his/her origins

Adoptions: the Cassation ratifies the right of the adoptee to know his/her origins, being able to access information relating not only to the biological parents but also to sisters or brothers, subject to making a request by jurisdictional measure.

With ruling no. 6963 dated 20 March 2018, the Cassation attempted to reconcile the right of the adoptee to know his/her origins, in respect of the fundamental rights of individuals, with that of the confidentiality of the biological parents, sisters, or brothers.

The Cassation deemed that the request procedure may be applied even if the mother declared at the time of the birth that she did not wish to be named
